Mission
PROSDOMA’s mission is to promote sustainable development by protecting the environment, restoring ecosystems, and empowering communities to live in peace, dignity, and resilience. We work to combat deforestation, biodiversity loss, climate change, and harmful environmental practices while addressing social injustice, humanitarian needs, and the root causes of displacement and migration. Through community development, peacebuilding, humanitarian assistance, and newcomer settlement support, PROSDOMA strengthens vulnerable populations across Africa and Canada to achieve self-reliance and long-term well-being.

PROSDOMA envisions a world where people and nature coexist in harmony, where communities are peaceful, just, and resilient, and where every individual, whether in Africa or Canada has the opportunity to thrive. We aspire to build environmentally protected landscapes, socially stable communities, and inclusive societies where migration is a choice rather than a necessity, and where newcomers are supported to integrate, belong, and succeed.

By 2030, PROSDOMA aims to achieve measurable, sustainable impact across environmental protection, community development, humanitarian assistance, peacebuilding, and newcomer settlement support in Africa and Canada. Guided by community participation and partnerships, our focus is on steady growth, local ownership, and long-term resilience
By 2030, PROSDOMA aims to:
– Support the restoration and protection of 400–500 hectares of degraded land through community-led reforestation and sustainable land-use practices
– Plant and nurture 150,000–200,000 trees across project areas in Cameroon, Kenya, and Zimbabwe
Train 1,500 community members and farmers in sustainable agriculture, climate-smart practices, and environmental stewardship
– Strengthen community awareness to reduce illegal logging, toxic fishing, and harmful hunting practices in targeted localities
Expected impact: Healthier ecosystems, improved soil and water protection, and increased community ownership of natural resources.
By 2030, PROSDOMA aims to:
– Provide leadership, entrepreneurship, and livelihood skills training to 3,000–3,500 youths and adults.
– Support the creation or strengthening of 250–300 small community-based initiatives, cooperatives, or micro-enterprises
– Improve income stability and self-reliance for at least 1,200 households.
Expected impact: Stronger local institutions, reduced poverty vulnerability, and improved livelihoods.
By 2030, PROSDOMA aims to:
– Deliver humanitarian assistance to 1000–1,500 vulnerable households, including displaced families, persons with disabilities, women, and children
– Establish or strengthen community solidarity mechanisms to respond to emergencies such as conflict, flooding, or food insecurity
Expected impact: Improved food security, dignity, and crisis resilience among vulnerable populations.
By 2030, PROSDOMA aims to:
– Empower 1,000–1,200 women and girls through economic skills training, financial literacy, and leadership development
– Support at least 100 women-led initiatives or income-generating activities
– Increase women’s participation in local decision-making structures in communities where we operate
Expected impact: Greater economic independence for women and stronger community leadership.
By 2030, PROSDOMA aims to:
– Engage 50–70 communities in peacebuilding, conflict prevention, and justice awareness initiatives
– Reach 3,000+ people through dialogue, civic education, and social cohesion activities
– Address root causes of forced migration by linking peacebuilding, environmental protection, and livelihood support
Expected impact: More stable communities where migration is reduced and driven by opportunity rather than crisis.
By 2030, PROSDOMA aims to:
– Train 1,000 youths in basic digital literacy and employability skills
– Facilitate access to computers, digital tools, or learning hubs in at least 10 communities
Expected impact: Improved access to education, employment pathways, and modern skills for young people.
By 2030, PROSDOMA Canada aims to:
– Support 600–800 newcomers in Alberta with settlement guidance, digital skills, employment readiness, and community integration
– Partner with local institutions to improve access to housing, information, and social services
– Build strong community networks that reduce isolation and racial discrimination.
Expected impact: Smoother settlement journeys, stronger community belonging, and increased newcomer self-sufficiency.

– Operate active programs in Cameroon, Kenya, Zimbabwe, and Alberta (Canada)
– Strengthen partnerships with local authorities, CSOs, faith-based organizations, and development partners.

History & Milestones
History
Promotion of Sustainable Development in Donga-Mantung Association (PROSDOMA) was officially registered in Cameroon on 14 September 2006, founded out of deep concern for environmental degradation and the growing vulnerability of rural communities whose livelihoods depend on natural resources.

At its inception, PROSDOMA focused primarily on environmental protection and sustainable development. The organization was created to respond to critical challenges such as illegal forest exploitation, deforestation, biodiversity loss, toxic fishing and hunting practices, and the escalating impacts of climate change. These early efforts emphasized community-led conservation, reforestation, sustainable agriculture, protection of water sources, and environmental awareness as essential foundations for rural development and human dignity.
As PROSDOMA worked closely with communities, it became increasingly clear that environmental degradation was deeply linked to broader social challenges including poverty, injustice, conflict, and forced displacement. This understanding marked a turning point in the organization’s journey. PROSDOMA expanded its scope to address peacebuilding, social justice, and community stability, guided by the belief that there can be no development without peace, and no peace without justice.
Over time, PROSDOMA incorporated humanitarian assistance into its programming to respond to the urgent needs of displaced families, women, children, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable populations affected by conflict, climate-related disasters such as flooding, and economic hardship. These efforts were particularly significant during periods of instability in Cameroon’s North-West and South-West Regions, where communities faced displacement and loss of livelihoods.
As migration increased both within Africa and internationally driven by injustice, insecurity, climate change, and lack of opportunities—PROSDOMA strengthened its work on addressing the root causes of migration through environmental protection, livelihoods support, peace initiatives, and community resilience.
Recognizing similar challenges faced by African migrants abroad, PROSDOMA expanded internationally, establishing Alberta, Canada In 2024. PROSDOMA Alberta, Canada was created to support immigrants (newcomers), particularly those from African backgrounds, as they navigate settlement and integration challenges. Through newcomer settlement support, digital skills training, employment readiness, community connection, and partnerships, PROSDOMA Canada extends the organization’s mission beyond borders ensuring that vulnerable newcomers are not left to struggle alone.
Today, PROSDOMA operates across Africa and North America, united by one mission: to protect the environment, empower people, promote peace, and build resilient, inclusive communities where everyone can thrive.
